Saffron Dance’s Saphira profiled in Washington Post
Posted on March 26th, 2009 by asharah
This past weekend, the Washington Post profiled Saphira, owner and creator of Saffron Studio, in their weekly magazine. Saphira quit her law practice, took an enormous cut in income, and a leap of faith to pursue her dream of owning her own dance studio. Saffron is one of the studios where I teach, and I love the welcoming and warm environment there. This article is really timely for me, as I just quit my day job in an effort to follow my own dream of being a dancer and performer.
Read “An Advocate for the Shimmy” on the Washington Post website. Be sure to watch the video too!
Wow, thanks for the article. The bellydance scene in Washington DC sounds amazing… I’m in med school now, and while I wouldn’t want to give up medicine, I frequently worry about how to balance these sides of my life especially when I’m a practicing MD. It would be wonderful to be surrounded by women with similar lives. The article did mention doctors, I noticed! I wonder if the tribal scene is similar, and how it compares to the San Francisco scene?
Thanks again!
